Before someone starts to complaining, I like the Potter books, I’ve read and enjoyed them, but look on the facts. At the very beginning I want to recap a wannabe copyright infringement concerning “The Books of Magic” written by the great Neil Gaiman.
Both series have an protagonist who is wears glasses, has brown hair and a white owl. Gaiman stated depending on this controversy, that they both just used a common archetype as platform for their stories and that an intended copy is just made up.
And here we can start the List:
- So Harry is based on a archetype, to let him look a little bit nerdy or awkward.
- He is an orphan.
- Like almost every orphan in fiction he is raised by the archetypical stepfamily which didn’t grant him the butter on his bread.
- He is the chosen one. His dealing with this issue is certainly one of the most important B- plots.
- Because his parents were killed by the Dark Lord he has a connection with him, most important through his scar on the forehead.
hate seeing the word retarded. so 5th grade. makes you look like a total tool.
